CONTINUING EDUCATION

Whether you need to earn continuing education credits for licensure or just want to gain knowledge, FSPA has hundreds of courses approved by the CILB. Education courses are held with live instruction with industry professionals as the instructors. The largest course offering is held annually at the Everything Under the Sun Expo each February/March. Throughout the rest of the year, local Chapters host courses at their meetings and a day of education is offered each summer at the FSPA T.E.C. Center. Check the calendar!

POOL & SPA SERVICE CERTIFICATION

The Swimming Pool & Spa Service Certification Course is a 60 Hour course (Including WS, WC, BP, and L&R) and helps you meet the education requirements of Florida Statue 489.111 and substitutes for three years of experience.

After successful completion of all course requirements (Passing Exam required) a certificate will be awarded to submit to the CILB with application for licensure. As part of qualification for licensure, the Applicant is required to meet required one (1) year/2000 hours of experience under the guidance of a licensed contractor.

Includes course manual and workbook, handouts and FP2S certificate (must pass test). Full payment is due prior to the first module, check or credit cards are accepted.

The course must be taken in its entirety as part of the FSPA pre-licensure program. Taking courses offered elsewhere will not count toward the pre-license requirement. This is not an exam prep course (it does not address the business portion of the exam, prepare you for the exam, or provide you with the books needed for the exam).

FLORIDA PUBLIC POOL SPECIALIST

The Florida Public Pool Specialist course was developed by the Florida Swimming Pool Association and approved by the state of Florida Department of Health as an approved 16-hour Florida public pool service technician certification course. Certification is good for 5 years.

The course fee covers manual, handouts and certificates. Payment is required prior to the first day of class, check or credit cards accepted. Pricing may vary based on location. Food, travel & lodging expenses are not included and may be incurred by the student. The Association will make all efforts to keep the cost for lodging affordable for all students. Special group pricing (3 or more enrollments) is available upon request.

This course is approved by the Florida Department of Health for student certification as a Public Pool Service Technician under Chapter 514, F.S., and Chapter 64E-9, F.A.C.

LP GAS EDUCATION

LP Gas Master Qualifier – A Manufacturer Endorsed Program

This course covers LP gas safety and the installation, maintenance, service, and repair of LP gas systems and appliances with special considerations for swimming pool related products and systems. This class is manufacturer endorsed by Hayward Pool Products. The Certificate of Completion awarded at the completion of this course may be used to apply for the LP Gas Master Qualifier Certification with the Florida Department of Agriculture, Consumer Services Division. Completing the LP Gas Master Qualifier courses earns you a certificate which is required to sit for the exam.

LP Gas Exam Prep

This is a prep course for the LP Category 5 license exam. This license is needed to service, install, repair and sell LP gas equipment, appliances and piping. It does not include work performed on RV Systems, LP gas containers and LP gas motor fuel system.

LP Gas Laws & Rules

This course covers information relevant to the swimming pool industry as laid out in Chapter 527 and Chapter 5J-20 Liquefied Petroleum Gas. Florida specific laws and rules governing the service and installation of Propane and Natural Gas appliances and systems will be taught. (LP Gas – Laws – Chapter 527 / LP Gas – Rules – Chapter 5J-20). For students who have their LP Gas License.

LP Gas Florida Fuel Gas Code

This course covers information relevant to the swimming pool industry as laid out in Florida Statue Chapter 527 Sale of Liquified Petroleum Gas. Florida specific laws and rules governing the service and installation of Propane and Natural Gas appliances and systems. For students who have their LP Gas License.

LP Gas Emergency Response

This course covers properties of LP Gas, and techniques required to handle emergency situations involving LP gas leaks and fires. Several common situations discussed.

*To receive free CE / education, membership must be paid in full. Members on a payment plan must complete 12 months of payments or will be back-charged for continuing education courses. Free education does not include specialty courses (i.e. FPPS, 60-hour, etc.).
